The beautiful water body of Hauz Khas Lake, located in South Delhi, is a great tourist attraction. Built in 1284 by Alauddin Khalji, this lake ensured continuous water supply to the nearby Siri Fort 'Hauz' in Urdu refers to a lake or water tank while 'Khas' means royal, thereby translating its name into the royal lake or royal tank. This lake is surrounded by lush greenscapes, which are home to a variety of birds and animals like peacocks, rabbits, deer, etc.
